Thankful at 5AM

Posted on Thu, Nov 24, 2011 @ 06:00 AM

SouthParkStudios.comIn lieu of a "regular" blog, we encouraged employees to publicly share some of the things they are thankful for. Because we recognize how fortunate we all are, and we ARE thankful. Every single day.

"I'm thankful for language (written and spoken), specifically for the way language makes it possible to communicate ideas and discoveries across time and space. So many of the things we enjoy today wouldn't exist without the accumulated human wisdom that language preserves.  Thank you, language, for making us all smarter, healthier, and wealthier than we would be without you."

"I’m thankful that I have such great parents, helping to put me into a position to be successful in life."

"I am thankful for and humbled by the reality that I work in a truly positive environment, and am surrounded by so many intelligent, compassionate and genuinely entertaining individuals."

"I am thankful to have abundant access to clean water, for drinking, bathing, cleaning, etc. (and for swimming pools and slip and slides)."

"I am thankful for the many innovations of Steve Jobs (RIP) – Though sometimes overwhelming, the technological innovations he nurtured during his short time on earth have done remarkable things for society."

"I am thankful for social networking, having reconnected with so many people in my past, and to be able to speak to my friends and relatives overseas."

"I am thankful to be living in a country where free speech is still protected – this is in stark contrast to many, many other places on earth and I am appreciative."

"I am thankful that we do not eat tofurkey on thanksgiving in my family."

"I'm thankful for my family."

"I'm thankful for all my buds, friends, and co-workers at 5AM who bring success, smarts, and fun to my life."

"I'm thankful for the plethora of reality TV shows from which to choose."

"I'm thankful that Brent was wrong, and the iPad was not a mistake.

"I'm thankful for the many world leaders who strive to put more emphasis on doing good through peaceful means rather than through violence."

"I'm thankful for "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" and "Forks Over Knives" -- two breakthrough documentaries that show that despite our focus on highly sophisticated science and research, MOST health issues that challenge us today can be overcome through common sense, moderation and a plant-based diet."

"I am so thankful for my family and friends, to be able to share with them all the big things and little things in my life, and to have the opportunity to celebrate these moments with good food, good drinks and good conversation."

"I am thankful that as a result of working for a life sciences company I am finally exercising again."

"I’m very grateful for my family’s health and happiness."

"I am thankful for the great pumpkin!...wait--think that might be the wrong peanuts holiday special... ?"

"I am thankful for every employee's dedication to making 5AM really special."

"I am thankful for every client - regardless of size - who provides the opportunities to make our living, hone our craft, build our brand, and deliver value."

"I am thankful for opportunities to be led and to lead, to be inspired and inspire, and how small amounts of encouragement can lead to great amounts of success."

"I am thankful for handwritten notes."

"I am thankful for the world becoming smaller."

"I am thankful to be healthy (as far as I know), wealthy (relatively speaking, in global terms) and wise (again, relativity certainly applies!)."

"I am thankful for all of the soldiers at home and abroad (and their support systems) who make it their livelihood to protect our freedoms."

"I am thankful for the Internet, Trey Parker and Matt Stone."

"I am thankful that I'm pretty good at remembering to laugh. Especially at myself."

"I am thankful, grateful, lucky, and embarrassed to live in a land of such opportunity, a land of freedom, and a land of plenty, where we've got the absolute luxury to debate the merits of all three."

"I am thankful that in a time when so many are going through great hardship, I have a wonderful family, fantastic job, cozy home, and terrific friends. I am also thankful for a cat that must always have the last word (or meow)."

"I am thankful for every spouse, partner, and family member that support our employees."

"I am thankful for the millions of people across the planet who take the time to create software anyone can use. Without their desire to simply "see something work," our world's technology would grind to a halt within minutes. So to all of the open source software contributors out there, thank you!"

I am thankful for Theobroma cacao.

"I am thankful for my loving family... (though surely that’s already taken... ) and I am thankful for the delicious food over the Holidays."

"I am thankful for working with a great team who has great skills across science and technology and can make our whole much greater than the sum of the parts."

"I am thankful for the advances made in cancer treatments that have reduced mortality and have allowed therapeutics to be applied in a more and more scientific manner."

"I am thankful for being surrounded by such willing, passionate, ethical and knowledgeable business partners."

"I am thankful that my background has instilled in me the idea that no matter what.... enjoyable or not... interesting or not... an adult must gain a set of skills to be able to make a comfortable living. This idea may have stifled some creativity or risk-taking growing up, but now it is so good to be in-demand, and to enjoy the freedom to go anywhere and be self-sufficient."

"I am thankful for both of my children--Sometimes I forget how lucky I am for the opportunity to be a parent."

"I am thankful to be, to love, and to have."

"I am thankful that I am not a sweet potato, a pumpkin pie or a turkey."
